Following years of collaboration, Goolwa Surf Life Saving Club, Surf Life Saving South Australia and Alexandrina Council were excited to build the brand new architecturally designed clubrooms located on the foreshore of Goolwa Beach. The new purpose-built facilities is a welcoming space which caters to its growing membership and is an essential emergency services asset required for the Sothern Fleurieu region. The impressive new club rooms include a training room, meeting room, storage for watercraft and other equipment, toilet facilities for beachgoers and exciting new entertainment venue for locals and visitors to Goolwa Beach. The new club rooms is just one stage of the Masterplan to guide future development of Goolwa Beach Carpark and surrounds.
The construction of a new two storey building at Goolwa Beach comprised of siteworks and batters. A new concrete and steel framed building, clad with precast concrete and lightweight cladding with colorbond and ultra skillion roofs.
Internally the ground floor is predominantly precast and concrete block walls on a concrete slab with lightweight metal stud and plasterboard walls to first floor level with extensive glass to the south and west elevations.
The rooms comprised of garaging, toilets and change rooms, first aid / patrol room, public toilets and gymnasium on the ground floor with a central lift and stairs to access the office, bar and kitchen, recreation / meeting area and outdoor space on the first level.
The new building will provide the Goolwa Surf Life Saving Club with a permanent home after operating from a temporary facility for the past seven seasons.
