The new STEM facility at Mount Barker High School comprises of three focus zones including a new making/advanced technology area for robotics, aviation, electronics, design and agricultural science. These link into a central collaborative space with distinctive treatments to create ‘The Green’, a reference to the rolling hills of Mt Barker and an attempt to bring the ‘outside in’.
The modification to the science laboratory has opened up the space to other areas for collaborative learning, with strong links between all zones to a maker space area for 3D printing, laser cutting and exploration.
The teacher preparation space has been designed to include an area for collaboration with students in addition to the quiet meeting/collaboration spaces.
