The Riverland General Hospital Redevelopment in Berri is one of the largest State Government funded capital works projects in country South Australia over the last few years.

Mossop Construction + Interiors appointed in the role as managing contractor oversaw the major redevelopment project. With an original targeted construction value of $39M the project was successfully completed and delivered with major budget savings at a final cost of $33.3M.

The Redevelopment included the construction of new facilities, including 3 new Operating Theatres, Emergency Department, Mental Health Facilities, Central Sterile Supply Department  CSSD), Renal Dialysis Wards, Rehabilitation Facilities, as well as a refurbishment of existing wards, department, consulting suites, pharmacy and hospital administration areas.

Furthermore the project involved delivery of new major infrastructure works including new plantrooms, air conditioning, fire services and water storage, generators (x 2), electrical services and supplies, medical gases and hydraulics.

One of the key challenges of the project was to ensure that throughout the redevelopment process, the hospital was not affected by construction works and critically their day to day hospital functions were unaffected by the major building activities occurring immediately adjacent the occupied and operations sections of the hospital.
